Five designers take the stage in Montreal thanks to L’Autre Couture and Modèles Académie

Montréal, Canada, 2014-11-21 - 

On Tuesday November 25th at Club Soda, starting at 7 pm, thirty young women aged 16 and up will have a chance to parade as rookie models and show their modelling potential to professionals from the Montreal fashion industry. The very first L’Autre Couture gala is the flagship project of designer Luko Marion. Organized in collaboration with Modèles Académie, the gala will not only serve as a springboard for these women who seek to improve their visibility, but also a great showcase for up-and-coming designers.

 

“This is a first of its kind in Quebec. We mix up the styles of five designers. We chose to group together their respective strengths and present six thematic scenes. The event is already a learning experience for these young women who wish to enter a unique industry, one that’s harsh but oh-so exhilarating,” explains Luko Marion, designer and event organizer. Wearing the creations of Anne Krystel (lingerie and swimwear), Pascal Labelle (fur), Suhalia Niazi (colourful textile print collection), Sonia Leclerc (Anomal Couture), and Luko Marion, these young rookie models, whose hair will be done by BES COLORATION and LABEL M, will have a chance to be selected by one of Montreal’s best modelling agencies, and perhaps pursue a career marketing local products as models, spokespersons or extras.

 

Tickets for the event are priced at $20 (plus fees) and can be purchased at Club Soda’s ticket office and on its website or by contacting Luko Marion, event organizer. A percentage of the funds raised will be donated to the charity PROCURE. (www.clubsoda.com or 514-286-1010)

  

About Modèles Académie

 

Comprised of designers, photographers, make-up artists, hairdressers, stylists, and choreographers, Modèles Académie’s team gave several young women an opportunity to live the exhilarating experience of a fashion show, a casting session, a photo shoot, and, for some, the chance to be discovered as hostesses of TV shows like Le Banquier. Modèles Académie’s ultimate goal is, first and foremost, to discover new faces and new talents, all the while showcasing the creative work of lesser-known fashion designers. About Luko Marion

 

A genuine workaholic whose strengths include rising up to the challenges inherent to large-scale projects, Luko Marion worked as an artistic director for various companies and held a similar position at the Academy of Arts and Design before becoming a designer. He has organized several fashion shows for events such as the Boat Show and the National Women’s Show. PROCURE, the only charitable organization in Quebec entirely dedicated to the fight against prostate cancer, recently mandated Luko Marion to design, for the next three years, the bow ties which are the icon of the Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign Bowvember.
