Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 – 50 free registration places for upcoming designers

Essen, Allemagne

Red Dot Award

Essen, Allemagne, 21-11-2016 -

Designers and manufacturers can currently register their products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017. “Young Professionals Application Day" provides an opportunity for upcoming designers to also take part in the competition. On 7th December 2016, trained designers who have graduated within the past five years have the chance to apply for one of a total of 50 free registration places. The international design competition thus gives an opportunity to those starting out on their career to prove their abilities and be compared directly against established designers and major brands from the industry.

In addition to registration for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017, the 50 new talents will be supported with free measures if they win an award: The sought-after winners’ benefits include use of the Red Dot label for the award-winning product, exhibition of the product in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen and in the online presentation. Furthermore, the winners will be introduced in the Red Dot Design Yearbook, the reference work for contemporary design, thus benefiting from the PR service that goes hand in hand with the award.

The Red Dot jury comprises freelance designers, design professors and specialist journalists. The products submitted are assessed directly, live and in situ. The products are not in direct competition with each other. Instead, they are tested, discussed and assessed individually. The factors used to assess the products are functionality, ergonomics, longevity, self-explanatory quality and ecological compatibility, product periphery, formal quality, symbolic and emotional content. Only designs that win over the jury with their design quality are awarded a Red Dot.

About the Red Dot Design Award:

In order to appraise the wide scope of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award is broken down into the three distinct disciplines: the Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The Red Dot Award is organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany, and is one of the largest design competitions in the world. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. The name and brand of the award were developed in the 1990s by Red Dot CEO, Professor Dr. Peter Zec. Since then the sought-after Red Dot is the revered international seal of outstanding design quality. Further information: www.red-dot.org.
