Communiqué seulement en anglais
GRAY Magazine, the Pacific Northwest’s leading design publication, is currently inviting submissions for the inaugural GRAY Awards — the region’s first cross-disciplinary, regionally focused design awards program. Manufacturers and designers are invited to submit products and projects across ten categories plus a new “Design for Good” category.
An esteemed panel of international design stars—including Philippe Starck, Ingo Maurer, Deborah Berke, Karim Rashid, Vicente Wolf, James Corner, Roman Alonso and Steven Johanknecht of Commune Design, and Olivia Kim — will cast their eye towards the Pacific Northwest to judge submissions in their area of expertise.
GRAY Award winners will be revealed November 29, 2017 in a buzzy, much-anticipated party at the
prestigious new SLS Seattle hotel. Sam Nazarian, sbe Founder and CEO, Kevin Daniels, notable real estate developer with Daniels Real Estate, ZGF Architects, and Stockbridge have joined together with
internationally-acclaimed creator Philippe Starck to launch the fifth SLS luxury hotel. Breaking all the rules of traditional awards programming, GRAY will surprise attendees with a splashy big reveal. Winners will receive a custom-designed contemporary glass art trophy, handcrafted exclusively for the GRAY Awards by John Hogan, the critically acclaimed Seattle-based artist and product designer. GRAY has also selected the BLOCK Project, a non-profit program started by architects and dedicated to alleviating homelessness in Seattle, as its charitable partner to receive 50% of the GRAY Awards Party ticket
proceeds.
The ten GRAY Award winners — alongside a robust selection of best-of “Editor’s Picks” and a “Design for Good” honoree — will additionally be featured in editorially produced, in-depth stories in GRAY’s
December/January issue, dedicated to spotlighting the Northwest’s most innovative design. Each winner will also receive a gift certificate to distribute winning projects on v2com newswire — the international newswire specializing in the distribution of design, architecture and lifestyle press kits.
