Recently, the Hammock two-person bathtub with Kaldur tap by bathroom specialist Clou was awarded the prestigious and highly prized Red Dot Award: Best of the Best. The organization received 5,214 submissions from manufacturers from 57 countries for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016. The decision by the 41-member jury was unanimous: this is the very best of design! Ground-breaking products in the world of international bathroom design that deserve the title Best of the Best.

The innovative combination of the two-person bathtub and the Kaldur freestanding bathtub mixer impressed the jury. Professor Peter Zec, president of the Red Dot organization, stated that, ‘Clou's entry has elevated it to one of the best brands in the design industry this year.’ Clou's director, Math Meertens, responds enthusiastically, ‘We continue to invest in the development of innovative bathroom products including this Hammock two-person bathtub and the new Kaldur taps by designer René Holten. We are a unique producer here in the Netherlands. I'm therefore even more delighted and proud that this international jury has confirmed this with the award of the highest possible prize for product design.’

 

Red Dot Gala, exhibition, and design yearbook

Clou will be presented with this award at the Red Dot Gala in Essen, Germany, on 4 July 2016. The laurelled Clou Hammock two-person bathtub with Kaldur freestanding bathtub mixer will then have the honour of holding the label for the Red Dot Award: Best of the Best for internationally recognized exceptional design. These prize-winning products can be seen until 31 July 2017 at a special Red Dot design exhibition in Essen and will also be immortalized in the 2016 Red Dot Design book.

Since first being awarded in 1955, the Red Dot Design Award has become one of the world's largest design competitions. The competition is organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and prizes are awarded for three categories: product design, communication design, and design concept.
