The AIASF Design Awards submissions are divided into three main categories—Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Unbuilt Design—plus three optional concentrations for Commendations that give special acknowledgment to projects that further encompass the values of good design within the context of Historic Preservation, Social Responsibility, and Urban Design. The Design Awards program incorporates the fulfillment of sustainable design principles into all categories.
"The scope of the projects honored by the AIASF Design Awards demonstrates that SF-based designers are continuing to raise the bar," noted 2020 AIASF President Adrianne Steichen, AIA. "The level of the design excellence we see in this work addresses the importance of building with the community for greater resilience and sustainability," she added.
The 2020 AIASF Design Awards program was juried in San Francisco at the AIA San Francisco headquarters on the eve of the COVID-19 pandemic, which subsequently required AIASF to move all its programs online. View project images here.
