YAMAGIWA
YAMAGIWA Corporation (Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan), a distinguished Japanese lighting design company renowned for high-quality and innovative illumination solutions, is pleased to announce that its Jakobsson Lamp collection has been selected for inclusion in the “Everyday Heirlooms: Exquisitely Designed Wooden Objects of Use” exhibition at the Messler Gallery, Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, in Rockport, Maine, USA.
Curated by Heide Martin (Heide Martin Design Studio) and Anne Quigley (Editor-in-Chief, Remodelista.com), the exhibition highlights how thoughtfully designed wooden objects—practical yet timeless—can transform everyday experiences and endure as cherished heirlooms for generations.
The Jakobsson Lamp, created by Swedish designer Hans-Agne Jakobsson, brings out the natural beauty of pine wood and has long illuminated Scandinavian homes as one of his signature works. Its thinly sliced pine shades, naturally dried over time, diffuse light with warmth and softness reminiscent of a bonfire. Faithfully reproduced today through Japanese craftsmanship, each lamp is carefully assembled by traditional artisans, carrying forward Jakobsson’s legacy of combining natural materiality with poetic light.
The Messler Gallery
Dedicated year-round to the exhibition of studio furniture and wood art, the Messler Gallery advances design and craftsmanship in wood as a vibrant medium of expression. As an educational forum, it provides opportunities for students, the public, and accomplished makers alike to engage with works firsthand, while also reaching a national audience through juried competitions, invitational exhibitions, and traveling shows.
