Dezeen has announced the 157 projects longlisted for this year's Dezeen Awards in the design categories, including designs by Takt, Blond, Arper,
Pentagram, Blå Station and Moooi.
The 158 longlisted projects, which are in the running for awards in eleven different design project categories, are by studios located across 32 different countries, including Pakistan, Cyprus,
Turkey, Canada, Poland and the Czech Republic.
The top three represented countries are the UK, with 36 longlisted entries; the United States, with 28; and the Netherlands, with 14.
Amongst the longlisted designs this year is a wavy table made using sand-casted recycled aluminium by designer Anna Maria Øfstedal Eng for Ferm Living, a seat made from a paper composite by Italian furniture brand Arper and an installation created from fabric forms for the Sharjah Architecture Triennial.
Other longlisted projects include a sculptural desk lamp by furniture brand Humanscale, a ground-floor cafe at the Tate Modern and a curved plywood seat by UK studio Barber Osgerby for furniture brand Fredericia.
All Dezeen Awards 2024 longlists revealed
Dezeen Awards 2024, in partnership with Bentley, also revealed longlisted projects in architecture, interiors and sustainability categories.
"I am particularly encouraged to see many designs prioritising repairability and durability, as well as rethinking the use of materials and production methods to minimise environmental impact,” said Chris Cooke, head of design collaborations at Bentley.
"Bentley's partnership with Dezeen is about championing design excellence," he continued, "and this year's longlist is a standout across all categories."
Longlisted projects have been selected from over 4,130 entries from 82 countries for the seventh edition of our awards programmes, which continues to champion design excellence and showcase innovation from architects and designers around the globe.
The next stage of Dezeen Awards 2024 will see all longlisted projects assessed by our international jury of leading professionals, including Mina Hasman, Pooran Desai, Hélène Chartier, Henrik Taudorf Lorensen and Mae-ling Lokko.
The 90 judges will determine the projects that feature on the shortlists, which will be announced in October. A further round of judging by our master jury will determine each winner, the overall project of the year winners, and the Bentley Lighthouse Award winner.
