The bi-annual event celebrated the winners of the 2018 and 2019 Architecture MasterPrize at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain. As one of the most important events in architecture this year, almost 300 guests from 150 architectural and design companies enjoyed the culinary creations of Michelin star chef Josean Alija from Nerua Restaurant, while Architectural Designs, Products and Firms of the Year winners received their trophies on stage.
“We are extremely proud and honored to receive (3) Architectural MasterPrize awards and (2) honorable mentions for our projects” said Erez Bar-Nur, founder & lead designer of Landscape Design Workshop. “This international award means that our mostly regional practice can now reach out to a wider audience that might find our philosophy and design aesthetic relevant to their future project.”
Award Winning Projects
Landscape Design Workshop has won (2) 2018 Architecture MasterPrize™ Design Award for their Key Biscayne Penthouse project. The first award is in the Landscape Architecture / Garden category and the second award is in the Landscape Architecture / Outdoor Designs category.
This private ocean-front penthouse unit is located on a magnificent island just south of Miami, Florida. The open-air terrace provides breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Downtown Miami. The design for this wrap-around terrace creates different zones, both public and private, defined by planting, paving materials and seating arrangements. The planting is a rare collection of specimen plants that are salt and wind tolerant. Other materials include natural stone, stainless steel and porcelain wood deck.
Landscape Design Workshop has won a 2018 Architecture MasterPrize™ Design Award for their Veranda at Plantation project in the Landscape Architecture / Outdoor Designs category.
This lush tropical ‘urban jungle’ courtyard forms the social hub of the apartment complex and helps to mitigate the urban heat island effect. The 6-story residential building wraps around an interior courtyard featuring a lagoon-like swimming pool with a beach entry. Cascading fountains welcome the residents as they enter the courtyard and the calming sound of water can be enjoyed from the apartments’ balconies. All ground-level units facing the interior courtyard enjoy a direct access to the common area, providing a village-like atmosphere and contributing to the overall sense of community.
Landscape Design Workshop has won (2) 2019 Architecture MasterPrize™ Honorable Mention Design for their Botaniko project. The first award is in the Landscape Architecture / Large Scale Landscape Projects category and the second award is in the Landscape Architecture / Residential category.
One of the strategies of smart growth and sustainable communities is to promote infill development, Botaniko adopts and embraces this concept. The guiding idea was simple, if we want to reduce the pressure on the environment we have to re-evaluate current development within the urban area and redevelop existing under-utilized spaces in a resilient way. Botaniko, as the name suggests, is a community where the outdoor environment & lush landscape takes center stage. The project is located in the City of Weston, Florida. It is a 50 hectare (123-acre) master planned residential development with 125 modern home sites.
Landscape Design Workshop has won a 2019 Architecture MasterPrize™ Honorable Mention for their Villa Magnolia project in the Landscape Architecture / Garden category.
Reflecting water surfaces, lush planting and contemporary sculpture garden fuse together in this private water-front estate located in the sea-side Village of Bal Harbour, Florida. The villa derives its name from the graceful Magnolia trees planted throughout the site. These trees are used as a buffer from the adjacent lots and provide scale and privacy. A sculpture garden featuring the owner’s art collection wraps around the house. Landscape Design Workshop designed the sculpture garden so it can be experienced from either the arrival court, the pool deck, or the interior spaces.
