Mark Krebs, a design studio with a focus on quality craftsmanship, announces the launch of their latest rug collections. Handcrafted in Northern India, each rug is designed with the specific understanding of the looms and the skilled weavers of the region. Mark Krebs invites industry professionals and enthusiasts alike to explore their Tile, Bouclé, and Stitch Rug collections.
Tile Collection
Welcome to the Tile Collection, where each rug showcases meticulous craftsmanship. Focusing on quality, the flat weave pile and 'double back' construction ensures durability and longevity, while the use of a monochromatic dip-dyed yarn adds rich colour depth to any room. With a delicate tile pattern carved into the weave, shadows create dimension, adding subtle variations of hue that change with the light of the day.
Bouclé Collection
Step onto the Bouclé rug, where the quiet mastery of yarn spinning is at its finest. Inspired by a deep appreciation for the hand feels and spinning quality of bouclé yarn by a specific Indian producer, Mark Krebs designed this collection to highlight its exceptional quality. Through a simple extra thick weaving technique, these rugs are the cosiest in the collection and offer a soft, durable, and chunky grace.
Stitch Rug Collection
Rediscover the Stitch Rug, inspired from old kilim rugs from various nomadic tribes throughout Persia and northern Africa, where looms needed to be compact enough to travel on horseback. Weavers then stitched multiple smaller strips together to form larger rugs. Recognizing the efficiency of a single weaver operating at the width of their body, this style of rug production has been revisited. Embracing the imperfections of handmade craftsmanship, Mark welcomes slight variations in strip lengths, adding a bit of improvised character to every rug.

About Mark Krebs
Mark Krebs is a design studio rooted in the understanding of production techniques of traditional rug weavers in India. By designing specifically for these production restraints, Mark Krebs can achieve exceptional quality true to the maker. The Studio believes that a designer’s role is to be the liaison between producer and consumer. Accordingly, every project starts at both ends of the life of an object, and the design happens somewhere in between. The end goal of every product designed by Mark Krebs is to be multi-generation. Happy whatever after.
