BURDIFILEK designs new Reitmans concept store at CF Carrefour Laval
At CF Carrefour Laval, BURDIFILEK unveils a new concept design for Reitmans, a confident update that speaks to the realities of brick-and-mortar retail building off the brand’s century-old roots.
The proudly Canadian womenswear retailer is embarking on a new chapter. The concept store is set alongside strong competitors and is in step with international players. The redesign signals a clear intent: to secure its place in Canadian retail through a considered evolution.
BURDIFILEK’s design translates Reitmans’ heritage into a contemporary retail experience, balancing legacy with modern consumer expectations. At the heart of the vision was the creation of a strong visual identity for Reitmans. Inspired by the strategies of high-fashion ateliers, the studio engages visitors through a singular signature colour. Anchored in warmth, accessibility, and confidence, the concept pairs wood with high-gloss finishes, clear sightlines, and enhanced spatial flow, crafting a more intuitive and considered brand experience.
"Reitmans has a long-standing legacy. Our goal was not to reinvent it, but to reinterpret it," explains Diego Burdi, Founder and Creative Director, BURDIFILEK. "We highlighted the familiarity of the brand within a confident setting that will resonate across Canada."
Rather than chasing spectacle, the design focuses on longevity, an environment that can adapt, evolve, and continue to serve a broad Canadian audience. It is a retail design model grounded in familiarity, but sharpened for today: practical, composed, and confident. The result is an inviting, contemporary environment that reinforces the brand’s commitment to style, inclusivity, and everyday ease.

Departing from the past conventions of Reitmans’ stores, BURDIFILEK’s design takes an ambitious leap into the future, offering a forward-thinking vision of retail for Canadian brands. Reitmans’ new elevated in-store environment and trend-right collections upholds their century long vision to empower Canadians to live confidently, and mission to create collections of uncompromising style and quality for all.
