AIA San Francisco and AIA Los Angeles present Future Care: Design for Health Symposium
American Institute of Architects, San Francisco Chapter (AIA SF)
"Future Care is an excellent opportunity, with leaders of California’s largest healthcare providers and the builders and designers of our healthcare facilities assembled, to consider the impact of a changing healthcare environment– not only in the places we seek medical care, but also in our homes and communities," explains John Kouletsis, AIA San Francisco Board Ex Officio President and Vice President, Facilities Planning and Design at Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc.
Throughout the day attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet industry leaders and discover best practices in change management– not only in the healthcare industry but also in other industries that have faced sudden or unexpected change or growth due to external forces. This conference aims to prepare architects, engineers, hospital owners, developers, general contractors and innovators from other fields to respond to today's changing environment and collaboratively and effectively design and build the next generation of healthcare.
The conference will open with comments from Chris Raker, AIA, Managing Principal of Raker Architects, who has forty years' experience in the management of interdisciplinary project teams. Richard Joseph Jackson, MD, MPH, FAAP, Hon ASLA, Hon AIA, Professor and Chair of Environmental Health Sciences, Fielding School of Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles will deliver the keynote address. Dr. Jackson is credited with pioneering the field of wellness design. His keynote address will explain how the built environment can help or hinder our ability to lead healthy lives.
Other participating leaders include Chris Arkenberg, Strategy and Research Lead for Orange Silicon Valley; Veenu Aulakh, Executive Director at the Center for Care Innovations (CCI); David Butler, Founder of Natural Pools; Deborah Cullinan, Executive Director for Yerba Buena Center for the Arts; Chris Downey, AIA, Architecture for the Blind; Tiffany Figoni, Director of Product Development for Health Net of CA: Salud y Mas; Michael W. Attendees will also have the opportunity to draw from the many sources of inspiration delivered during the day and share their ideas during break-out sessions.
