Kastella, the Montreal-based manufacturer and distributor of premium hardwood furniture and architectural millwork, is proud to announce the launch of The Offcuts Collection.
Designed and crafted in collaboration with Raphaël Dinh, a Sr. Furniture Maker at Kastella, The Offcuts is a series of unique pieces built using hardwood ends from the production of their furniture collection.
Designer and Founder Jason Burhop is known for simple, understated, custom furniture—functional pieces that come to life through the beauty of the wood and the details inherent in their design.
"Our Offcuts are born from the same beautiful boards we use in our furniture production," says Burhop. "Just as robust, resistant, and unique. We generate a significant quantity, and it has long been our mission to use these pieces in a meaningful way."
Produced in a limited series of 5-10 units, The Offcuts Collection differentiates itself from the company's main product line. Building in small batches allows Kastella to offer competitive pricing, while maintaining its focus on traditional woodworking techniques and high-quality standards synonymous with the brand.
The collection includes three unique pieces: La Souche, Le Tabouret à lattes, and Le Marchepied à lattes.
La Souche, reminiscent of a tree trunk, is a modern and functional take on the tree's original form. Built using two distinct techniques - cutting board-style glue-ups, and a faceted version - the cylindrical form has a rounded base that adds a sense of lightness. Conceived as a stool, this versatile piece can also be used as an end table.
Le Marchepied à lattes is a practical step stool designed with slatted layers that function as practical steps or a handy seat. Built using solid wood offcuts, the sturdy piece is available in American Black Walnut and White Oak.
Le Tabouret à lattes is a multifunctional piece that adapts easily throughout the home. Built using solid wood offcuts, the practical slatted surface is suitable as a tabletop or functional stool. Available in both American Black Walnut and White Oak.
The Offcuts Collection, suitable for residential use, is available on display at Boutique Kastella on Boulevard St. Laurent in Montreal.
