FAD to Architecture and Interior Design Awards Finalists 2016
FAD - Fostering Arts and Design
Between 6 and 12 June, the Disseny Hub Barcelona is hosting the 6th staging of the FADfest, the Barcelona festival that features design in all its disciplines.
The names of the finalists of the FAD Awards to Architecture and Interior Design had been announced. The prize-giving ceremony will be celebrate on 8th June 2016, within the framework of the 6th staging of the FADfest, the festival of the FAD, Fostering Arts and Design.
The works shortlisted for all the awards will be on view in the exhibition «The Best Design of the Year», an insider look into the best design from the here and now.
Organised by ARQUIN-FAD, the FAD Awards to Architecture and Interior Design have always been a reliable barometer of excellence in the different spheres of architectural practice. Since they were founded, these prizes have driven avant-garde currents forward and have fostered the constructive values that the sociocultural reality demanded at any given time. This is why, throughout their long history, the FAD Awards have progressively adjusted to the numerous and notable changes undergone by society. The list of categories of the prizes have thus been modified over the years to reflect the multidisciplinary nature of architectural practice, which today is even more central and decisive. Since 2006 the categories of the FAD Awards are: Architecture, Interior Design, City and Landscape, Ephemeral Interventions and Thought and Critique. The FAD Awards adapt to a new reality for the third time: quality architecture produced in Spain and Portugal has extended throughout the world, with an increasing number of architects with a practice in the Iberian Peninsula who are building in other countries. The growing importance of this internationalization seemed to call for the International FAD Award, created on 2014, a new category that would incorporate, value and disseminate the work done by our professionals in the rest of the world.
The FAD Awards to Architecture and Interior Design are organized by the ARQUIN-FAD, the association that drives avant-garde currents forward in the sphere of architecture.
On this new edition, The FADfest'16 will revolve around two linchpins: the FAD Awards, will be embodied in the exhibition «The Best Design of the Year», and this year’s thematic focus, called «Ensayo General» (General Rehearsal), which addresses the issue of food sustainability from the standpoint of design. The exhibition «The Best Design of the Year» will be inaugurated on 6 June in Room A of the Disseny Hub Barcelona and will remain open to the public until 30 October.
