11 teams (5 French and 6 international) were selected from more than 90 applications, 53% of which came from outside France, validating the international dimension of the Festival.
The MedI-FAV project, winner of Montpellier Cultural Capital 2028, will also be presented there, which aims to combine innovation in the food sector through the reuse of eco-waste, particularly from oyster farming, for architecture with new approaches. This work, as a demonstrator, was presented on the site of the Maison Tarbouriech in Marseillan (Ostreic farmer in Marseillan) in November 2022, and it will be reworked for a new presentation during the Festival des Architectures Vives 2023 in Montpellier. The MedI-FAV project is carried out in collaboration with the Maison TARBOURIECH, the National School of Architecture of Grenoble, and the Grand Atelier Innovation Architecture.
Finally, continuing its environmental commitment, the FAV is implementing an environmental charter aimed at respecting the question of resources, natural materials, reuse, and limiting the production of waste.

The Festival des Architectures Vives
The Festival des Architectures Vives is an architectural journey for the general public that has enabled visitors to discover or rediscover emblematic sites of the city of Montpellier since 2006. This event invites visitors to get in touch with this rich heritage by offering them installations scattered around the city. In Montpellier, it takes place in the heart of the historic city, offering a route linking mansions and interior courtyards, mostly private, that are not usually visible to visitors.
Each installation created by teams of architects highlights the work of a young generation who proposes, invents, experiments, and explores new fields of design for our environment. Thus, the festival offers them the opportunity to present work through an installation in the heart of the prestigious and remarkable setting offered by the courtyards of private mansions. Each of them opens a dialogue between heritage architecture and contemporary installations.
