The 18th annual Grafika Awards Gala, a celebration of the best in design in Quebec, was held Thursday February 5th at the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church with over 700 industry professionals in attendance. The jury, presided over by Mario Mercier, founder of Compagnie&cie and an industry-renowned graphic designer, highlighted the pertinence and effectiveness, as well as the design quality, required to be chosen for the top 100 projects of the year. Among these 100 projects, 14 exceptional works were honoured by Grand Prix awards.
The interactive installations in New York’s ADC Awards Traveling Exhibition designed by Sid Lee for Shutterstock won over the jury to take away the evening’s highest distinction.
The achievements of some thirty studios, designers and agencies were recognized by the competition. Sid Lee with 14 projects topped the list ahead of Lg2boutique (12), Paprika (7), Cossette and Orangetango (5 each), Baillat Cardell & fils, Feed, Bureau principal, Akufen and Uniform (4 each). The jury also underlined the quality of four student projects, for which the contributors to UQAM’s student-run magazine, Pica, garnered a Student Grand Prix Award.
Full results of the 18th edition of the Grafika competition will be published in the February/March issue of Infopresse, available February 13 at newsstands and online at concours.infopresse.com.
