A4Adesign

Milan, Italie, 29-04-2014 -

The Italian company A4Adesign, internationally known for its creations in recycled cardboard, presents its own way of planning. Starting with a simple form, and developing a concept and different ways of setting-up. Without limits, moving from small formats, which are ideal for decorative elements and allusive shapes, to macro dimensions for humongous structures. This is how A4Adesign creates its minimalist and iconic, functional and sustainable fittings and installations for exhibitions, retail areas and events.

A4Adesign’s way of planning presented at the Milan Design Week.

This process was presented during the Milan Design Week 2014 as an exercise in style with the installation “Tell me what you see. Variations on a theme”.  A simulation with strong visual impact in which references to 1930s Milanese architecture - fluctuating macro ellipses and lozenges hanging on a string  - were used in various ways.  Evoking precious objects (multifaceted diamonds), forming huge, pavilion-like structures (measuring over 4 by 3 metres), creating spaces and transmitting a different perception of space.

This is A4Adesign’s way of  working with companies and developing ideas together: a way of conveying a brand and its world, of communicating product philosophy or the mood of an event.  An architectural concern which is constantly researching materials, and with more than 10 years in the field of events and retail, A4Adesign reviews set-ups right from their inception, steering them through the various stages of realization to tell a story.

The material used plays a fundamental role: light, versatile and eye-catching  recycled and recyclable honeycomb cardboard.

The sustainable lightness of design.

Since 2002 Milan-based A4Adesign has been creating objects, toys, furniture and accessories. It designs and produces stage settings, set-ups and installations for exhibition, retail and entertainment areas for adults and children. Everything is made from recycled and recyclable cardboard, running the entire gamut of the possibilities offered by this material, from pocket-sized to macro dimensions.

A4Adesign is inspired by archetypal forms, and its style is one of clean lines that resort to contrasts when necessary. Its projects are always spectacular and are the synthesis of different elements: the eye of the designer, the overall vision of the architect (a profession the designers still practice), the playful component in designing, the use of an ecological and easy-to-handle material.  In A4Adesign’s catalogue there are dozens of articles, furniture and multifunctional accessories for events, shops and fairs, film and TV sets.

A4Adesign’s preference is for ideas and projects that are coherent with sustainable development, which is one of the company’s key values. Using an ecological and ostensibly poor material is a choice of sobriety, and an act of respect for collective, useful and shareable resources.
