Spring 2026 marks a milestone for Montréal’s design community with the inaugural edition of Montréal Design Week, conceived by Index-Design, organized by Archi-Design QC, and presented by Tafisa Canada. From April 28 to May 7, 2026, Montréal will transform into a design capital, also celebrating 20 years as a UNESCO City of Design within the Creative Cities Network.
This first edition expands the Index-Design professional trade show (formerly Complètement Design) into a unifying event that brings together the entire design and built environment industry. It unfolds as a constellation of events and destinations for both the curious public and industry insiders, most of which are free. Celebrations will take place across a variety of venues throughout the city, offering a vibrant showcase of Montréal’s dynamic design scene.

A double anniversary: 20 years of Index-Design and 20 years of Montréal as a UNESCO City of Design
Index-Design, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, has developed this inaugural Design Week alongside its local partners to offer a rich opening program. Among them, the City of Montréal supports this edition as a key highlight of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of its designation as a UNESCO City of Design. A curated circuit, Parcours Design Montréal, featuring around fifteen initiatives, is integrated into the program.
Montréal Design Week highlights around thirty emerging designers, along with some ten collective exhibitions bringing together designers and artisans in a dialogue of practices. Several studios will also open their doors, revealing the richness of fine craft expertise, showcased through the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec (CMAQ) circuit.
With over ten professional events and around sixty publicly accessible destinations, the program offers a rich and multifaceted overview of design in its many forms.
