After he graduated from Collège InterDec in 2000, Frédric Clairoux began his professional career at Lemay Architectes, where he was involved, among other things, in producing the interior design for the Caisse de Dépôt et placement du Québec in a consortium with Daoust Lestage. He then went to live in the United States for several years and was involved with the design of a large number of houses and residential projects on the east coast.
When he returned, in 2006, Clairoux launched FX Studio design, with the primary mission of serving residential projects and real-estate developments. The studio’s contemporary and functional approach lent itself perfectly to new condominium developments in the metropolitan region.
Through these major projects, the firm developed a wide range of residential renovation and new construction projects. A good example of a kitchen that the firm designed can be seen in the segments of the program Les Touilleurs on ARTV. The team’s latest work is also on view on the Architizer Web site.
Real estate development
and residential design
Through the Le 801 Signature real estate project, the firm highlighted its expertise in co-ownership real-estate development. The achievement of this 95-condo-unit project helped the firm to develop a specialization in the design of small spaces. This experience led to collaboration with the Prével team in the Impérial and Lowney projects. Recently, FX Studio redesigned the layout plans for the new Viva Development, with 800 condo units, in Laval.
Commercial and corporate design
In 2009, the firm broadened its expertise to commercial and corporate interior design with the projects for the offices of Alcatel and of the public health department. This year, the team is involved with designing the head office of Naya and a brand-new restaurant on Île-des-Sœurs – projects to keep an eye on.
On the international scene
Each year, the FX Studio design team expands its creative horizons by attending major international design events in order to discover new trends and products. Having been in New York this year and Toronto last year, Frédric Clairoux is participating this fall in the Design Québec trade mission in the United Kingdom and Belgium. The objective is to extend his business network, gain inspiration from European trends, and further his knowledge through various seminars and collaborations with European firms.
