In the vibrant heart of the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighborhood unfolds a poetic project, a delicate transformation of a duplex into a single-family home, by Le Borgne Rizk Architecture. It is a metamorphosis that transcends space, creating open places bathed in light, soothing retreats where beauty inspires familial harmonies. Intended to house an intergenerational family of two children and a grandparent, this dwelling celebrates the cohabitation of generations.
On the ground floor, communal spaces intertwine around a vast functional kitchen, gracefully opening to the dining room and family room. A dedicated workspace emerges, weaving a tapestry between professional and family life. Upstairs, two bathrooms surround the four bedrooms, each articulating around a double height in front of the staircase. This staircase, both robust and refined, becomes a junction between functionality and aesthetics, a living tableau.
Elegantly suspended on the wall, this wooden staircase reveals concealed drawers, integrating daily life into its organized movement. The chocolate-toned wooden steps offer subtle warmth to this open space, while the wall-mounted metal structure, discreetly concealed behind a triangular glass partition, welcomes the dance of natural light. The glass guardrail, crowned with wood, provides translucent security, illuminated by a soft glow under each step.
Every detail of this staircase, from the junctions of the risers to the borders of the entrance frame, reveals meticulous craftsmanship and careful harmony. Symbolizing articulation between the floors, it embodies daily movement, the interaction of inhabitants, and the fusion of intimate and public spaces. This same wooden articulation becomes the path through which life manifests and circulates.
To unify the two floors into a cohesive entity, a double height opens to a hall on the second floor, creating open spaces flooded with natural light. It is a spatial quality without equal, a symphony of light and space that gives this dwelling a singular aura.
