Major change in the world of Quebec architecture and design
Lemay
Eric Pelletier Architects of Quebec City joins Lemay, one of Canada’s most important design and architecture firms.
Lemay, a leading Canadian architecture and design firm, has negotiated another important step in its growth strategy by integrating into its ranks the renowned firm Eric Pelletier Architects (eparchitects). For the Quebec City company, this merger is an opportunity to expand its activities, especially internationally, and to adopt a more multidisciplinary approach by joining with a prestigious firm that offers integrated services not only in Quebec and Toronto, but also in Algeria and Costa Rica.
« By joining forces with Lemay, eparchitects, with its two decades of experience, takes on a new challenge; that of pushing its boundaries even further on all levels of excellence, innovation and research, and most of all in terms of creativity and inspiration in the wonderful world of architecture», said eparchitects President Eric Pelletier, whose expertise and that of his team will allow Lemay to further strengthen its presence not only on projects with a strong cultural component, especially libraries, but in architectural competitions of all sorts.
For LEMAY’s President and Facilitator of Excellence, Louis T. Lemay, the integration of eparchitects and its leader Eric Pelletier will accelerate the firm’s leadership in terms of creativity and innovation, which has been confirmed by the numerous competitions and prizes won in recent years. According to Mr. Lemay and Mr. Pelletier, the firm’s collective expertise will be mobilized to conceive and execute projects that are as audacious as they are grand.
« This alliance will contribute significantly to reinforcing the creative offering of Lemay in all markets », said Louis T. Lemay. Eric Pelletier added that from his perspective, the merger confirms the exceptional and exemplary qualities that made his firm’s reputation for excellence. Over the years, the company developed recognized expertise in completing cultural and urban projects like the Grande Bibliothèque nationale du Québec.
Mr. Lemay underlined that Eric Pelletier will remain an integral part of the leadership team as Principal Creative Partner, and will sit alongside the members of Lemay’s management team, composed of Principal Partners Pierre Larouche, André Cardinal and Marc , the Charlesbourg Library, the Bibliothèque du Boisé of Saint-Laurent Borough and the Musée de la Gaspésie. For Mr. Lemay, the merger speaks to the significant common interests of the two firms, who now have a shared road to combined growth by sharing values and cultivating a common vision. The approach adopted by eparchitects is in perfect synergy with that favored by Lemay; one that focuses on proposing innovative solutions based on an integrated multidisciplinary approach, while constantly questioning conventional methodologies.
Bouchard, and Principal Creative Partner Michel Lauzon. Along with Michel Lauzon and Louis T. Lemay, Eric Pelletier will participate in the founding of lemayLAB, a creation and advanced integrated research studio that will be part of the Lemay agency. In continuity with the creative direction undertaken at Lemay in 2009 with the arrival of Michel Lauzon, lemayLAB will push the boundaries of creativity even further with the combined forces of these two dynamic creators. The mission of this new creative collaboration will be to offer clients the highest level avant-garde architectural design, as well as innovative project development services, concept design and architectural and urban branding. It will also bring dynamism to Lemay’s participation in local and international architectural competitions. In addition to striving for excellence in architectural design, lemayLAB will explore creativity at the limits of identity, and urban design at all levels.
The Quebec City firm has in the recent past closely collaborated with Lemay on a number of projects, including the new Learning Commons of Bishop's University, the competition for the design of the Parliament of Costa Rica in San Jose, the renovation of the headquarters of Ubisoft in Montreal, and was a finalist in the competition for the new concert hall in Victoriaville. Mr. Lemay said he is thrilled to welcome Eric Pelletier to the Lemay team, especially since eparchitects is a much sought after firm, having won, among other prizes, the Governor General’s Medal for Architecture and various awards of excellence from Canadian Architect and the Quebec Order of Architects. Eric Pelletier will maintain his portfolio of clients and will continue to be active in the Quebec City market.
