CEBRA, one of Denmark’s most esteemed architecture studios, is merging with Lemay, an international transdisciplinary design firm based in Montreal: an exciting new development in the Canadian firm’s vision of developing a global design ecosystem, and an opportunity for both practices to amplify the reach of their design capacities.
Rooted in strong cultural affinity and shared values, this union brings together complementary strengths in architecture, urbanism, landscape, and sustainable development. One shared intent acts as a propeller: creating design solutions that meet clients’ evolving needs for meaningful, climate-conscious, and people-centered environments, both on a global scale and locally.
“Each studio we welcome brings irreplaceable local intelligence to our global practice. This acquisition proves that architectural excellence is all about connecting passionate professionals with a shared design philosophy, driven by all that design can accomplish. CEBRA, like Lemay, has built a practice that prioritize people and place: we speak the same language,” said Louis T. Lemay, President of Lemay.
“For us, it was essential to find a partner not just in geography, but in mindset. Lemay is a like-minded practice that understands the creative power of collaboration—and shares our ambition to design spaces that leave a lasting, positive impact,” said Kolja Nielsen, Founding Partner and CEO of CEBRA.
Shared growth, shared future
Following this merger, the firms will retain their respective brands and leadership, while building a shared roadmap for collaboration, co-creation, and growth.
“Together, we have the creative power and operational agility to take on the most inspiring projects, whether in Europe, North America, or beyond,” said Nielsen.
Strengthening a global design ecosystem
This news follows the recent merger of FXCollaborative – a renowned architecture and urban design firm based in New York – with Lemay. From this point on, the three firms will be part of an inspiring design ecosystem that is international in reach, integrated in process, locally relevant and grounded in a unified design philosophy.
“The right partnerships drive meaningful expansion. CEBRA’s exceptional design expertise, European presence and shared values make them an ideal partner as we build our global presence,” added Lemay.
