ART SOUTERRAIN’s sixth edition will be held from March 1st until March 16th, 2014

Montreal, Canada, 2014-02-03 - Tuesday, February 18th, 2014, ART SOUTERRAIN will launch its 6th edition with a press conference. Starting at 10:30 AM, you are invited to attend the unveiling of the 2014 edition of the festival, at the Espace Internet of the Eaton Center of Montreal, on the 4th floor (800 Maisonneuve Ouest st, Montreal, QC).

During the press conference, several speeches will take place to present the artists, activities, curators, novelties and partners the festival will be adding to its 2014 program. ART SOUTERRAIN’s sixth edition will be held from March 1st until March 16th, 2014, throughout at 7-km course in Montreal’s underground passages. For two weeks, you are invited to discover the works of close to a hundred Canadian and International artists, around the theme Foundations. This theme questions the redefining of identification marks and cultural references, the upheavals of the secular traditions within communities and the influence of the migrations on the behavior. By dedicating 30% of its programming to emergent artists, ART SOUTERRAIN gives them a status that will make them visible on all the organization’s platforms.

ART SOUTERRAIN was founded in 2009 and each year showcases international contemporary art institutions, artists, and the architectural and cultural heritage of downtown Montreal’s underground city. As a unique contemporary art festival in North America, ART SOUTERRAIN aims to make art accessible to a wider audience by taking it out of its traditional exhibition spaces.
