FAV's 2017 Pavilion
Association Champ Libre - Festival des Architectures Vives (FAV)
FAV's 2017 Pavilion - Émotion verticale
The pavilion is the starting point of the Festival des Architectures Vives (FAV). It aims to inform the visitors and to guide them through their itinerary. Strategic located in the heart of Montpellier, the Pavilion has many purposes:
- it links to past editions, in images and through the documentation of FAV's book since 2006
- it is the course's meeting and starting point
- it serves as reception where the public gets important information about the festival
- it is the place where the public can vote for the best installation
The Montpellier FAV 2012 and 2013 pavilions are exhibited at the School of Architecture of the city.
The pavilion will be open from Wednesday June 7, to Sunday June 18, 2017, 9:00am-7:00pm
Hôtel St Côme - CCI - 2 Grand'rue Jean-Moulin 34000 Montpellier
With the aim to represent young architects from the region of Occitanie, this year its realization is entrusted to ØNA, a team from Montpellier.
ØNA Architecture
ØNA Architecture is a collective of young architects who met at the National Superior School of Architecture of Montpellier. Created in 2013, ØNA focuses its activity on ideas competition in order to express its vision of an innovative architecture.
ØNA is based on multiple desires and passions that come from the divers personal experiences of each of its members. It aims to be a group of research on various themes such as architecture, urbanism and landscape. The main goal is to learn and to offer a sober contemporary architecture which relates to the historical, cultural and geographical specificities of its environment.
Beyond architecture, the collective is passioned about photography, technologies, travel, gastronomy and sports. All of these fields affect how they apprehend, see, imagine and present each project.
The pavillion - Emotion verticale
The pavilion of the Festival des Architectures Vives 2017 experiments the spatial connection created by a simple architectural element, the white column. Its repetition allows to create a forest of poles generating a new spatiality and a dialogue with the existing stone columns. The idea of the pavilion is to pay tribute to these supporting elements which structure the place creating different sequences and perceptions.
The theme of this edition, "Emotion" results from the displacement and way within the pavilion. The repetition, the positioning and the heights of the vertical elements allow to generate various spatial sensations such as tightening, opening or even requiring. Vertical and slim work, the pavilion aims to pay tribute to the spatial composition of the historic courtyard by the performance of the steel material.
